Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2020-2030, Neal Martin, Apr 2020

The 1993 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has an animally, quite feral bouquet, a subtle torrefactory scent emerging with time. Yet it is still utterly charming. The palate is medium-bodied with good backbone, rustic and a bit rough-hewn, sporting some dryness on the finish and a dab of hoisin on the aftertaste. Not the best Chapelle-Chambertin I have tasted from Jadot, yet I cannot help falling for its charms. Tasted at the inaugural Vinous off-line.

Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 1997-2013, Robert Parker, Aug 1995

Although tannic, the Chapelle-Chambertin is also seductive, with a healthy color and good depth. While some hardness and dry, austere bitterness are noticeable in the finish, the attack and aromatics are promising. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 12-15. Jadot produced a high percentage of successful wines in 1993. There are also disappointments, particularly in the lower appellations which have turned out tough and tannic. There is no Jadot house style, save for rich, well-delineated, structured wines that stand the test of time. As a vintage, 1993 is less consistently excellent than 1990 or 1989. In 1988, all the grand crus were bottled without filtration. That vintage was followed in 1990 and subsequent vintages, with all the premier and grand crus bottled without fining or filtration. Black fruit nose mixed with some secondary notes is followed by robust, even slightly rustic flavors underpinned by solid tannic structure and good if not great length. This is a solid if not special effort and I particularly like the old vine intensity and sap. Allen Meadows, Burghound, Dec20,2002.
