Note di degustazione
(55% grenache, 40% carignan and 5% merlot, the crop level was reportedly just 15 hectoliters per hectare) Saturated ruby. Superripe grenache-dominated aromas of roasted berries and melted chocolate. Rich, dense and large-scaled, but with firm minerality and brisk acids almost magically giving the superripe flavors a cool aspect. Flavors of graphite, licorice and liquefied minerals. An impressively weighty wine with excellent thrust and grip.

Great stuff, the 2000 Poboleda is a blend of 70-100-year old Grenache (55%), 100-year old Carignan (40%), and young vine Merlot (5%), all aged in French oak. There are approximately 1,800 bottles for the American market. It boasts an opaque purple color in addition to a liquid minerality, blueberry, and blackberry notes, admirable texture, superb purity, and tremendous persistence on the palate (nearly a minute). Anticipated maturity: 2005-2015. Importer: Eric Solomon, European Selections, Charlotte, NC; tel. (704) 358-1565
