Note di degustazione
The 2004 Chambertin Grand Cru derives from what is clearly the most challenging red Burgundy vintage of the last two decades. Of course, the vineyard was hailed three times. Though many 2004s are already senescent, this wine remains quite youthful, offering up aromas of dark berries along with minty pyrazines that mingle with more-attractive notions of peonies, spices and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, it's impressively ample and fleshy, with lively acids and chalky grip, but those green top notes, for which thresholds vary, will mean that this wine is inherently divisive.

(racked; Dugat crushed the whole clusters by foot, then did the fermentation in a tiny wood cuve Full ruby-red. Knockout nose offers black raspberry, minerals, coffee, flowers, leather and game. Thick and minerally, with a distinctly primary, almost grapey, character. This boasts wonderfully silky texture and outstanding persistence, with the tannins buried in fruit.
