1998 Amarone della Valpolicella

This vintage stands immediately apart for its intense aromas of dried mint and rosemary essence. The Bertani 1998 Amarone della Valpolicella has that green medicinal side, but it also fleshes out considerably to show softness and sweet, heavy tannins. These results are richly concentrated and bold, with a large, sweeping mouthfeel that extends over the entire palate. There are dry oak aromas, barbecue spices, brandied plums and a salty note as well. This wine plays its cards in terms of volume and richness.
