Note di degustazione
The excellent, nearly outstanding 1999 Chateauneuf du Pape Sinards is a blend from a friend's vineyard near the village of Gres, not far from Beaucastel, as well as declassified wine from Beaucastel. A deep purple color is followed by sweet black cherry fruit infused with smoke, leather, and roasted meat. The wine is medium to full-bodied, with good underlying acidity, and a delineated finish. Its purity and freshness are admirable. Enjoy it over the next 10-12 years. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. (205) 980-8802

Ruby-red. Medicinal black cherry, mint, licorice and leather on the nose. Sweet entry, then slightly green in the middle palate; comes across as a bit less dense than the Gigondas, but with good flavor intensity. Slightly dry on the finish, with some acidity yet to be absorbed. Le Grand Prebois, the property where these wines are made, just outside the Chateauneuf boundary toward Orange, is owned by the Perrin family of Beaucastel.
