The 1982 Richebourg Grand Cru from Domaine Gros Frère & Soeur left much to be desired, unfortunately; though that is perhaps forgivable given its age and the fact that this was not a great Burgundy vintage. It is clearly very mature in appearance. The nose is smudged with molasses and a whole heap of volatility. The palate is fully matured with a slight seaweed note on the entry, but there is a cloying sweetness (possibly over-chaptalization?) with a volatile finish. It's not the greatest Pinot Noir that I have ever tasted.

Based in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Gros Frère & Sœur is a relatively large estate for the Côte de Nuits with an impressive portfolio of wines including three Grands Crus (Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot and Echezeaux).
