2006 Berliquet

The 2006 Château Berliquet has a rather light, slightly smudged bouquet of earthy red berry fruit mixed with cigar and chalky scents. It is pleasurable, but there is something almost ephemeral about these aromatics. The palate is medium bodied with brusque, quite dry tannin. This Berliquet feels severe in the mouth and tapers quite sharply on the finish. My inclination is that any bottles should be consumed in the near future. Tasted February 2016.

Tasted blind. Rather weak crimson. Lightish ruby. Interesting freshness and iodine notes on the nose. Round and sweet. Much more supple than most. A little tough – not over-extracted. Quite juicy. (JR)

Dark healthy crimson. Very mellow nose and really quite substantial. This could already give pleasure and some concentration. Tannins well managed. The bottle tasted in 2010 must have been an aberration. Sufficiently fresh. (JR)
