Good medium red. Quite violety on the nose; this smells like a Burgundy. Supple and sweet but not fleshy, with the fresh floral character carrying through on the palate. On the lean side but fresh for the vintage. Finishes firm and slightly dry, with a hint of tarry torrefaction and a strong violet note. Today the wine is dominated by its rather sizable cabernet component (30% cabernet franc and 10% cabernet sauvignon), which gives it a juiciness rare for the right bank in 2003.
The soft, plummy 2003 exhibits herbaceously-infused jammy black cherry characteristics along with elegant, soft tannin, medium body, and a fleshy, low acid finish. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.
Deep crimson. Hints of burnt overripeness. Then sweet, too sweet. A bit tarty compared with 2001, for example. Quite angular, even green, tannins on the finish. Difficult to predict its evolution. (JR)

The Chanel group – owners of Ch. Rauzan-Ségla and Ch. Canon – added Berliquet to their stable of wine estates in 2017. Since then, the team – led by Nicolas Audebert – has been transforming the property, gradually revealing this special Saint-Emilion site’s potential.
