Punteggio 18/20 · FINE+RARE

Classic stone fruit and honey on the nose however it remains subtle. Really weighty mouth feel but also creamy in texture with lots of ripe fruit character ranging from grapefruit to mango and goes on for a long time.

The 2010 de Fargues has an attractive bouquet with scents of honey, saffron, crème brûlée and marzipan, blossoming from the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. This is a class act: very harmonious and poised, a judicious dash of spice with a very harmonious and persistent finish. Superb. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal.

Pale to medium lemon-gold in color, the 2010 de Fargues charges out of the gate with super-intense green mango, lemon Meringue pie and baked pineapple notes with underlying hints of toasted almonds, clover honey, coriander seed and allspice plus a waft of beeswax. Full-bodied and concentrated, with wicked backbone of acid, the densely packed, multi-layered palate delivers layer upon layer of electrically charged citrus and tropical fruit notes, finishing very long with loads of savory nuances.

Tasted blind. All the tasters loved this. Both nutty and slightly floral, herbal too. Almond paste and bitter orange but masses of freshness on the finish. Great intensity and terrific acidity. Very very long. (JH)

GP-accueil
de Fargues

Owned by the Lur-Saluces family (which also previously owned Ch. d’Yquem) since 1472, Ch. de Fargues benefited from similar care and attention. The resulting wines are impressive and – unlike most in the region which are now offered en primeur – only released three years after the vintage.
