The 2009 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru has a fresh, poised, powerful nose with brambly red fruit, incense and lavender, well-defined and gaining intensity in the glass. The palate is fine-boned for a 2009 with a keen line of acidity. The finish is saline and drags you back for more. It is outclassed by the 2010, yet it is superior to some other underperforming 2009s recently tasted. Tasted at the Clos de Bèze vertical at La Cobotte.
