Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2018-2035, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jul 2020

The 2001 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) is a beauty, wafting from the glass with aromas of plums, dark berries, rich forest floor, black truffle, dark chocolate and violets. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, rich and velvety, with a broad, textural attack, powdery structuring tannins and superb depth at the core, concluding with a long, savory finish.

Bright, full red. Pure but reticent aromas of red fruits, rose petal and spices. Dense but tightly wound and extremely backward. Hints of berries, black cherry and licorice, along with a suggestion of truffle. Does not appear to be as exciting as it seemed from barrel a year ago, but this is hiding more than it's showing. Quite long and tight on the aftertaste, and in need of seven or eight years of aging.

Cask sample. Life and substance. Really racy start, then lots of tannins, but this is a very lively package. Very chewy. Solid, but with uplift. (JR)

As it should be, this is easily the biggest wine of the entire line up with robust, intense, broad-shouldered, supremely complex, solidly structured flavors introduced by deeply spicy, quite aromatic and expressive aromas and dramatic finishing intensity. An altogether superb effort that delivers knock out quality. Allen Meadows, Burghound, Apr01,2003.
