Note di degustazione
Dark and brooding, the 2011 Chambertin Clos de Bèze is fabulous today. Stylistically, the Bèze is quite a bit richer than the Chambertin, although it lacks just a touch of that wine's finesse. That is a pretty small complaint for a wine that delivers so much pure intensity. Layers of dark blue/purplish fruit fill out the wine's frame effortlessly, followed by violet, spice, smoke and licorice overtones. In 2011, the Bèze is exotic, resonant and compelling to the core.

Rather a rustic Clos de Bèze. There is vineyard quality here but not necessarily soaring overall quality. (JR)
This is spicier still and a bit more elegant as well with a beautifully layered nose that combines notes of cassis, plum, dark currant, earth and a hint of humus. There is a beguiling sense of energy and fine delineation to the intensely mineral-driven big-bodied flavors that possess excellent concentration on the powerful yet refined finish that is impeccably well-balanced. This is most impressive. Tasted: Jan 15, 2014. Drink: 2026+
