Note di degustazione
This does a great job of showcasing why it is worth waiting for Troplong, a wine that can be so powerful when young that you can imagine it will never come round. This is tapered, melted, thoroughly charming, smoked earth, maybe a finger of Brett but balanced by gorgeous autumnal fruits, tea, crayon, dried mint, cranberry, lavender. Christine Valette owner, taking over the estate as of 1980 and introducing hand picking. Served out of magnum.

Certainly mature, and a wine from a different age. Herbal nose, sandalwood. Elegant palate but there is a bit of a lack of substance here. At its best already (but not falling over), this seems to be heading in the same direction (with two more decades to go) as the 1962. (AWH)
