Punteggio 98/100 · Da bere 2020-2065, Neal Martin, Jan 2019

The 2001 Coutet Cuvée Madame has an intense bouquet of mango, dried honey, crème brûlée and Aszu that explodes from the glass. This is a bouquet that takes no prisoners - determined to make an impressive. The palate is wonderful. So harmonious and viscous, the richness effortlessly offset by a spine of underlying acidity. With wonderful poise and a spicy finish with hints of nutmeg, this is an awesome Cuvée Madame that will offer decades of pleasure.

The 2001 Cuvee Madame, composed of 100% Sémillon and with 206 grams per liter of residual sugar, is pale amber in color and features the most extraordinary notes of honey toast, crème brûlée, preserved oranges, baked peaches and fungi with hints of candied ginger, dried pineapple and chalk dust. Super sweet, super rich and super fresh, it completely fills the palate with hedonistically spicy layers and finishes epically long. Wow!

The Château Coutet 2001 Cuvée Madame was picked on October 10 and contains 208 grams per liter of residual sugar. It has a complex, intellectual bouquet with scents of dried honey, quince, Azsu-paste and a mango-scented nose that is incredibly intense. The palate is very harmonious, viscous, spicier than the 1997, but there is something feminine about this Cuvée Madame (title notwithstanding.) It is very fresh, well poised, intense on the finish with that trademark Coutet acidity driving the finish and lending so much energy. This is one of the best vintages of Cuvée Madame that I have tasted and tasting it over a whole week...it just got better and better! eRobertParker.com.August, 2015
