Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Clos du Marquis felt a little disjointed on the nose with a touch of greenness jarring against the red fruit. The palate is better with sappy red berry fruit, black pepper and bay leaf, grainy in texture with a sinewy, forceful finish that feels a touch rough around the edges. I have encountered less brutish bottles of this Clos du Marquis, hence the question mark against my score. Tasted February 2017.
Remarkably youthful colour. And unusually fruity on the nose. Smells like a young southern French red. Really unusual and rather dark and charry on the palate. Very little sign of St-Julien here. Bitter finish. (JH)
Notably dark, youthful crimson. Hint of mousiness on the nose. Lots of fruit. Trying very hard with notes of spearmint but definitely not a whole at this point. (JR)
