Note di degustazione
Full medium ruby. Lively aromas of cassis, blackberry, bitter chocolate and nutty oak, perked up by a violet note from the cabernet franc component. Dense, seriously concentrated black fruit and violet flavors are nicely framed by harmonious acidity. Finishes with ripe tannins and strong lingering fruit. This is balanced to enjoy now or over the next ten years.

This silky, lavishly fruity, extravagantly concentrated Cotes de Castillon was fashioned from yields of 18 hectoliters per hectare and is a blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Its deep plum/ruby color is followed by sweet notes of earth, roasted herbs and red as well as black fruits. Like the 2010, it is a major sleeper of the vintage. Enjoy it now and over the next 5-7 years.
Stéphane Derenoncourt's home farm. Dark crimson. Cool and fresh with lovely sweetness too even if not the most concentrated wine. Very well managed. (JR)
