A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, the 2010 Chateau Bellegrave is a charming, medium-bodied, nicely concentrated Pomerol that offers mature notes of black cherries, dried herbs, and tobacco leaf. It doesn’t appear to be a long-term prospect, yet has plenty to like and should continue drink nicely for 5-7 years.

Very rich and sweet. But with good energy and not too drying. Flatteringly sweet. Dry end. Not that intense. (JR)
A delicious Pomerol which is approachable in its youth but will keep for at least a decade. The flavours are lively and lifted with hints of cassis and plums. A well balanced wine with firm, ripe tannins. Fairly long finish. Jeannie Cho Lee MW asianpalate.com
Tasted at the Syndicat de Pomerol. A deep purple/garnet colour, the Bellegrave ’10 has a refined, very pure bouquet with dark berries, boysenberry, crushed stone and just a touch of violet. Good definition and poise, though tightly coiled at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a grainy entry, soft supple tannins, quite minerally on the finish where the Cabernet Franc takes over and says: I’m in charge. Tasted April 2011.
