Really lovely blackcurrants on the nose – bursting with flavour and ripeness, with a strong and totally authentic cedar and wood spice aroma too. Absolutely correct in flavour profile and structure – with clay-textured tannin that is approachable now, and crisp acidity. This really is an excellent example of classic claret. Loads of perfume on the finish. (RH)
The 2012 Cambon La Pelouse is absolutely gorgeous. Far from an easygoing 2012, the Cambon La Pelouse is going to need at least a year or two in bottle to unwind and shed some of its nervous energy. Savory herbs, tobacco, menthol, spices and dark-fleshed fruit fill out the super-classic Haut-Médoc profile. This is a terrific wine for the vintage.
A nice mouthful of traditional Bordeaux, with deep ruby/purple color with sweet black cherry and dusty, loamy soil notes in the background. This medium-bodied wine has very good concentration, light tannin and a distinct earthiness. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.
