Punteggio 98/100 · Da bere 1979-2039, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

Faiveley's 1959 Musigny Grand Cru is a remarkably deep, youthful wine and even takes quite a bit of time in the glass to open up. When it does, however, the results are striking, a bouquet of rich red fruits, rose petals and exotic spices prefacing a full-bodied, layered and multidimensional wine that's concentrated and structured, with an elegantly muscular profile and a long, resonant finish.

A brilliantly complex nose of primarily sous bois, spice and earth notes does display a hint of volatile acidity that detracts only mildly from the overall appeal. There is excellent concentration to the delicious, velvety and utterly seductive middle weight flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality on the wonderfully long and well-balanced finish. Unlike many '59s at this point in their evolution this is showing nary a hint of fatigue and if well-stored should continue to drink well for years to come. In a word, terrific.
