Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2015-2025, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2015

The 2006 Musigny from Jacques Prieur was tasted blind and performed admirably. It has a deep color and the fruit feels more black than red with tertiary notes, perhaps even that melted tar element that my predecessor David Schildknecht picked up on soon after its release. The palate is smooth and very silky in the mouth, the tannins having melted, sultry and perhaps tinctured with brettanomyces, through nothing to get too worried about. There is a lovely broad-shouldered, meaty finish that suggests this Musigny is now at its peak. What it lacks in pedigree it compensates for in something as banal as flavor.

Good deep, bright red. Captivating, soil-driven aromas of red fruits, violet, spices, smoky herbs, licorice and earth. Suave on entry, then sappy and gripping in the middle, with complicated mineral, floral and saline elements all accentuating the wine's tactile quality. Builds nicely on the back half, finishing with firm but ripe tannins and excellent grip and energy. Less ample and more tightly wound than the young 2007, but I find more intensity and energy here: I'd bet on this one in the long run.

Good red-ruby. Sappy, inky nose hints at violet, cocoa and sweet spices; following the Echezeaux, one can practically smell the sun in this one. Big and rich but closed; in a warmer style than the Echezeaux, with impressive volume and chewiness of texture. Not particularly expressive today but finishes very long, sweet and ripe, with the broadest tannins of these 2006s.
