Note di degustazione
From another underrated vintage on the Right Bank, the 2001 Le Defi De Fontenil reveals a ruby/plum hue with just a touch of amber at the rim. Giving up lots complex currant, tobacco, saddle leather, and incense aromatics, it hits the palate with a layered, full-bodied, concentrated mouthfeel, ripe tannins, a great finish. This spicy, complex, layered, mature effort is drinking at point today yet should easily evolve for another 5-7 years.

Less fragrant than the 2002 regular Fontenil. Thick, more tannic and aggressive. Very dry, chewy finish. Somewhat exaggerated. Less well balanced. (JR)
Black! No nose, but very, very sumptuous on the palate. Not overdone. Very rich and chewy. Low-key end. (JR)
