2002 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc

Pungent aromas of pineapple, grapefruit, honeysuckle and spicy oak. Juicy, sappy and firm, with exhilarating flavors of peach, cantaloupe and spring flowers. The wine's dense fruit is enlivened by fresh acids. Long and impressive on the back end, finishing with excellent cut. Would make a perfect accompaniment to fish done in a cream sauce.

Sadly, because of space limitations, it was not possible to include tasting notes for this wine. However, readers should be aware that neither 2003 nor 2002 was a great vintage for white wines. Pungent, primary aromas of grapefruit, mint and spices; very sauvignon in character. Juicy, cool and sharply delineated; youthfully bracing, green-edged flavors of grapefruit pith and lemon are supported by good underlying sweetness. Extremely young, tart wine with very good potential.
