Note di degustazione
Reticent nose hints at soft citrus fruits, honey and licorice; less aromatic than the Genevrieres and more burned by the sun. In a distinctly penetrating, dry style, and not showing the generosity of the vintage's best examples. This was also austere a year ago, but today I don't find enough supporting minerality to be optimistic about the wine's future development in bottle.

Loads of spices, hazelnuts, and almonds burst from the glass of the 2003 Meursault Perrieres (white). Light to medium-bodied and oily-textured, it exhibits pears, apples, and anise flavors in its expressive character. Its finish, which starts out wonderfully, is tightened by a lemony acidity that Coche will most certainly attend to during elevage. Projected maturity: 2007-2014. Perfumed aromas of orange blossom and stone. Dense but light on its feet; comes across as considerably drier than the Genevrieres, and indeed this is very low in residual sugar. Still a bit tightly wound, with a mineral austerity rare for this vintage. Inexpressive today but very fresh and penetrating on the back end.

Domaine Jean-François Coche-Dury is one of the most sought-after names in Burgundy, famed for producing some of the most expensive white wines in the world. The demand for these fiercely collected wines far outstrips supply.
