Tasted blind. Usually the bunches go into the red but yields were high enough in 2012 to make one barrel of white. A round and curious wine which hovers between red (in structure) and white (in flavour). Already open aromatically, with lots of tannins and acid. (JR)

The 2012 Nuits St Georges offers fine brambly black fruit on the nose with blackberry and undergrowth scents that is very natural and refined, quite classic in style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins: crisp black fruit, cranberry leaf and touch of sous-bois and tobacco. This is very well balanced, not complex, but full of freshness and personality. Enjoy this over the next 5-8 years.
Light cherry red. A bit stinkily reductive (unracked) – classic Gouges. Dry and savoury and refined tannins. Needs air and time. (JH)
Wild, reduced aromas of red fruits and leather. Supple but a bit peppery; shows good texture but comes across as rather rustic and a bit green in spite of the very low production of 28 hectoliters per hectare.
