Veins of tannin and salinity frame Jean-Marie Fourrier's Clos Vougeot, the negoce wine that is closest in style to the domaine offerings. Bright red stone fruits, flowers and anise all come together in the glass. The 2011 is tense and vibrant in the glass, with lovely delineation and precision throughout. The finely-knit finish makes it hard to put the glass down. This is another gorgeous wine from Jean-Marie Fourrier.

Three casks from three different spots. Mid crimson. Heady and perfumed. Succulent and juicy. Less concentrated than the Échezeaux. Quite easy. But confident. Quite chewy. (JR)
The 2011 Clos Vougeot, which comes from all three levels of the vineyard, has a fine baked cherry and bergamot-scented bouquet with a touch of violet. The palate has a sinewy opening, quite chewy in the mouth with a saline, grippy finish. It needs just a little more precision but it is satisfactory. Drink now-2020. Aug 2013, www.robertparker.com

Domaine Fourrier is located in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate has been run by Jean-Marie Fourrier since 1994, and has rapidly become one of the village’s most fashionable names, known for producing pure and transparent Pinot Noir.
