(bottled in July of 2011): Medium red. Pure, bright but reticent aromas of black cherry, menthol, licorice and wild herbs; very Clos Vougeot! Silky on entry, then fresh and firm, with black cherry, mineral and soil flavors held in check by a strong tannic spine. A bit foursquare today, with a structure that reminded me of cabernet. I'd forget this wine for a good decade. Another 2009 that does not obviously display its vintage.

Mid crimson. Lively, smudgy colour. Scented. And juicy and sweet and chewy but not really lifted or terroir driven. Just a bit clumsy. (JR)
Good medium-deep red. Lively but restrained aromas of medicinal black cherry, menthol, wild herbs and bitter chocolate. Energetic but on the lean side and youthfully imploded, with very primary flavors of dark cherry, licorice and menthol. (I would have guessed this was made with some of its stems but it wasn't.) Finishes structured and persistent. Reminded me a bit of the austere 2007 at the same stage, but this wine has more stuffing. It should also gain in texture by the time it's bottled.
