Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2024-2030, Neal Martin, May 2024

The 1982 La Gaffelière has a light nose in the context of the growing season, perhaps a little faded and with less fruit than its Saint-Émilion peers. Sous-bois , cigar smoke and remnants of red fruit mingle in the glass. It's a bit old school and tatty. The palate is actually better—medium-bodied with light tannins. Dryness crept in with age but with just a welcome dab of spice box on the finish. Drink this soon. Tasted at the Complete Bordeaux Tasting dinner at Hedonism.

Sweet, lively, natural winemaking. No enormous impact but a gentle and refreshing wine. (JR)

Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 1995-2001, Robert Parker, Dec 1995

The 1982 is one of the few successful wines made during a disappointing period for La Gaffeliere. It displays the subtle, elegant style this estate favors, as well as an attractive, graceful bouquet of sweet, toasty oak intermingled with ripe black-cherries. Medium-bodied and silky smooth with plenty of spice, this low acid wine has no hard edges. It should be drunk over the next 4-6 years . Tasted 3 times with consistent notes.
