The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin En Champs possesses gorgeous freshness and vibrancy for the year. Freshly cut flowers, spices, dark cherries and licorice are some of the notes that flow through to the energetic, polished finish. This is s a fabulous showing, not to mention a hugely delicious wine.

(aged in 80% new oak, vs. 60% for the Vieilles Vignes): Good deep red. Reticent aromas of black cherry, coffee and mocha. Fatter and riper than the Vieilles Vignes but a bit more liqueur-like and showing more oaky torrefaction. Not quite as pristine today, and the tannins are a bit aggressive, but this this wine really begs for a few years of cellaring.
The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin En Champs is round, sensual and generous. The radiant, expressive fruit totally saturates the palate in a stunning style. Clean, saline notes add a crystalline purity on the finish. This is a beautifully balanced bottle.
