A little herbaceous on the nose, but quite closed. Then pretty drying on the palate without the ripeness of fruit to balance. (JH)
Displaying a saturated plum/purple color as well as fine ripeness, medium body, solidly constructed flavors, admirable concentration, moderate tannin, and hints of underbrush, licorice, and new oak, this 2004 requires 2-3 years of bottle age. It should keep for 12-15 years.
B: Very dark. Unusual hint of fennel with lots of black fruit. Big, sweet, slightly loose start and then extremely drying tannins. Acidity seems if anything a little low. It may all come together in the end but at the moment it is particularly disjointed. (JR)
Informazioni sul produttore

A stone’s throw from Saint-Julien, Ch. de Camensac was long underperforming, but – under the ownership of the Merlaut-Villars family – was totally restructured, and quality transformed.
