Note di degustazione
The 2004 Grand Mayne shows nicely at 16-years of age with lively blackberry and raspberry fruit laced with cedar and light tobacco aromas, classic in style and well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip. Good concentration here for a 2004 with a strict, chalky-textured and lightly spiced finish that demonstrates good attack. This is one of the better Saint-Émilion 2004s that you can buy. Tasted at the Grand Mayne vertical at the property.

Deeply coloured with a black core and wide ruby rim. Smells slightly porty – ripe and a little spirity. Chewy and a little harsh on the palate. Alcohol seems high though the label says 13.5%. (JH)
Complete and very round but perhaps a little bit simple? Certainly flattering and very easy to love. Lots of fine dry tannins on the finish. (JR)

The Nony family has been at the helm of this 17-hectare estate for three generations, since the 1930s, but it’s under Jean-Antoine – in charge since 2015 – that quality here has soared.
