A nice savoury nose leads into a fine elegant palate. Simple and attractive.

Elegance and finesse, soft cherry red, savoury cumin spices, chalky tannins, some austerity on the opening even now, as was the case for much of the early years of this wine. A dry vintage, it has taken its time to get into its stride, but there is a basic freshness to the structure that now gives lift and a mouthwatering finish. Charming. 30hl/h yield, 40% new oak for ageing, Eric Boissenot consultant, Philippe Dambrine director.
The 2011 Cantemerle has a light but agreeable bouquet with cedar and tobacco scents percolating through the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with sharp tannins, a little sour in the mouth with a dry and short finish. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.
Tasted blind. Sweet and somewhat simple. A bit stringy. (JR)
