Fragrant and quite delicate on the nose with ripe but restrained fruit. Subtle on the palate with a cushion of soft fruit alongside fine tannins. This has focus, lovely balance, and long length. Very well done as always. FINE+RARE

65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. Harvested 9 to 18 October. Crimson hue. Very much on the fruit. Sweet mid palate with freshness as well, the acidity creeping in behind. Lighter weight but accessible. Probably not for the long haul. (JL)
The 2012 Domaine de Chevalier from magnum is very similar to the bottle on the nose with lovely loamy, red berry fruit. Very fine definition. The palate is well balanced with fine-boned tannins and well-judged acidity. There is an almost Burgundy-like texture towards the finish that lingers long in the mouth. Certainly, this larger format shows better than the bottle at the moment. Tasted at Bordeaux Index's Ten-Year On tasting.
Really fresh and dry. Racy and appetising – almost like a healthy mouthwash! Very successful. Long and neat. A much fresher bottle than the Farr one. (JR)
