Good colour. Sweet, burnt nose. Big and bold on the front palate. Very chewy chunkytannis bit more obviously ripe than most 2001s. Just a bit rustic on the finish. (JR)

This small vineyard, under the same Reiffers family ownership as Clos St.-Martin and Cote de Baleau, has fashioned a fabulous 2001 that’s even better from bottle than it was from cask. Its dense purple color is followed by glorious scents of blueberries, blackberries, crushed stones, and sweet, well-integrated, toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied, with super purity, opulence, and length (35-40 seconds), this sleeper of the vintage will be at its peak between 2007-2017.
Black, very rich, sumptuous nose. Drying finish. An attempt at richness which doesn't quite succeed. (JR)
A delicious red with berry, plum and fresh herb character, medium to full body and soft, round tannins. Slightly one-dimensional now, but shows potential. Best after 2008. 500 cases made.James Suckling,Wine Spectator 2004.
