Note di degustazione
(real Charmes," says Confuron) Good dark red, less bright than the Suchots. Soil-inflected aromas of redcurrant, smoked meat and brown spices, with suggestions of dried fruits. Lush and creamy-sweet, with deeply pitched flavors of raspberry compote, smoke, mocha and spices. A silky, fine-grained wine with considerable fat and very suave tannins. For a moment I worried that this is almost too rich, but then I often have the same feeling about Confuron's wines at Domaine de Courcel and invariably the baby fat melts away with time in bottle to show the structure beneath.

CS Hint of coffee and animal notes – very charming and all-enveloping. Great balance. For a really rewarding Grand Cru this is not a silly price. It’s not massive but then Charmes Chambertin shouldn’t be massive. Just a slightly kick of quinine on the finish. Lovely neatness and length – all pleasure, even if never the biggest wine on the block. So sweet and charming. (JR)
