2002 Charmes Chambertin

(tasted from a magnum; Charlopin bottles 400 magnums each vintage for his personal cellar; 100% destemmed; 100% new oak): Good dark red with a touch of amber at the rim. Expressive, rather balsamic aromas of black olive, underbrush, caramel, spices and porcini. Very concentrated if somewhat decadent flavors of prune, beeswax and furniture polish. Finishes with slightly drying tannins and very good length.
