Dark ruby. Light rather soapy nose. Then sweet fruit that should beguile some tasters. As though much of the flavour was derived from oak rather than fruit. A little sickly but it's certainly not too dry. (JR)

Red-ruby. Musky, sexy nose combines plum, currant, mocha and game lifted by a floral note. Sweet, lush and silky, with good energy to the sweet red fruit, herb and mocha flavors. A seamless 2010 with ripe tannins and noteworthy persistence. An excellent result for this chateau in 2010, and a terrific value. Alain Raynaud is now consulting here.
Consistently better than its humble appellation, this excellent wine from proprietor Jean Guyon offers up plenty of black currant fruit intermixed with cedar wood, licorice and incense in a medium to full-bodied, surprisingly concentrated and expansive style that should drink nicely for a minimum of a decade or more. There’s no need for patience with this sleeper of the vintage, given the sweetness of its tannins, attractive glycerin and fruit levels.
