Ruby red, stately rather than vibrant, with a charming touch of crème caramel and cold ash. This is in a sweet spot for drinking, lovely silky tannins, stretches out through the palate, a soft landing but with pulses of dried herbs and cumin spice. An easy one to recommend for drinking now - with a serious 54hl/h yield, vinified in cement vats with harvest September 27 to October 11. 50% new oak for ageing, Jean-Pierre Hugon estate manager.

Hint of green on the nose. Sweet and gentle on the palate. Very fresh. Softer than many but a good drink. Slightly mean. (JR)
Mid-crimson and a nose that still betrays some oak. Spicy fruit with jagged acidity and very chewy tannins but no grace for the moment. (JR)

This Fourth Growth estate has been owned by the same family (the Sénéclauzes) since 1936. Over the last 25 years, later picking, a higher level of sorting and modern winemaking has fine-tuned the quality.
