Note di degustazione
A little younger in feel and character than the 1983, with fresher acidities, but less generous and full-of-ease. Expect a focus on raspberry and redcurrant fruit character, touch of soy and sage, richly-textured tannins, silky on the finish, orange peel, pomegranate and smoked earth. Has held its estate character over 40 years. Seneclauze family owners, Jean‑Pierre Hugon manager, as he was for 35 years until 2009. 45% new oak for ageing, harvest began on October 1.

The 1985 displays a great concentration of fruit, full body, a super finish, and considerable aging potential. It has turned out to be one of the best Margauxs of 1985. Anticipated maturity: Now-2003. Last tasted, 3/89.

This Fourth Growth estate has been owned by the same family (the Sénéclauzes) since 1936. Over the last 25 years, later picking, a higher level of sorting and modern winemaking has fine-tuned the quality.
