Punteggio 16.5/20 · Da bere 2015-2021, Jancis Robinson MW, Sep 2019

64% Sauvignon, 36% Sémillon. Eight months in medium-toast barriques, 50% new, 50% second fill. Seems quite strongly Sauvignon on the nose. Well put together and without any rough edges although it’s a tad chewy on the end. Refreshing and perky – a bit of a cheeky chappie of a wine. But not the most sophisticated. (JR)

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2018-2032, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2016

A big, broad-shouldered wine, the 2012 Brown hits the palate with serious intensity and slightly rough contours that are going to need time to settle down. The high presence of Merlot (70%) and pushed, ripe style add to the wine's considerable personality. A rush of black cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco, licorice and incense leaves a positive last impression. The 2012 is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Another successful wine for this vintage, Chateau Brown’s 2012 is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot. The wine shows serious power, dense color and lots of red and black fruits, some smoke and earth, burning embers and a spicy, medium-bodied finish. Drink it over the next 12-16 years.

Punteggio 17/20 · Da bere 2014-2020, Jancis Robinson MW, Jul 2014

64% Sauvignon Blanc, 36% Sémillon. Eight months in medium-toast barriques, 50% new, 50% second fill. Struck match nose. Some tension, precise and well sculpted with ripe fruit and – surely? – some Sémillon. Rich but not fat. Very successful and quite serious. Long with only a hint of cat. Neat. Pretty ripe fruit. But very slightly short. (JR)
