Rich nose with quite a lot of creamy oak. This is sweet on the palate, with moderate acidity and soft tannins. Easy and very approachable. FINE+RARE

The 2012 Château de Fieuzal has an attractive nose, a mélange of red and black fruit, brown spices, leather and tobacco. There is lovely build here, and it is very cohesive. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, well-judged acidity, cohesive and poised with admirable substance towards the finish. This de Fieuzal is one of the few positive surprises of the tasting and is worth seeking out. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting.
Tasted blind. Evolved rim. Sweet start and then some appetising lift. Not a knockout but very respectable. Tannins well-managed. (JR)

Named after the Fieuzal family who owned this estate until 1851, today Ch. de Fieuzal is owned by the Quinns. Since their arrival in 2001, the Irish family has restored the property and built its reputation for quality.
