Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2014-2022, Robert Parker, Apr 2014

Consistently one of my “best buy” picks from Graves is this large estate owned by the Leveque family producing both delicious red and white wines. An equal part blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2011 Chantegrive offers an excellent value/price rapport. Classic notes of unsmoked cigar tobacco intermixed with red and black currants, barbecue smoke and spice jump from the glass of this fleshy, medium-bodied, beautifully pure and textured wine. It is a terrific success in this difficult vintage. This big-time sleeper of the vintage should be drunk over the next 7-8 years.

Inviting, refined aroma of dark fruit and cedar, cassis leaf, the oak well restrained already. Fragrant, subtle, dry and fine tannins with a light note of chocolate on the finish. Whole and harmonious. Delicious in a lightish, leafy style. Not for those who like big rich wines. Showing better than en primeur. (JH)

Smudgy deep crimson. Graphite more than fruit on the nose, gradually showing more cassis. A little dusty too. Leanness of fruit accentuates the oak, giving some char flavour. Dry, slightly flat finish. (JH)

A soft red with plum, mineral and warm stone character. Medium to full body, with round tannins and a delicious finish. Attractive texture. jamessuckling.com
