Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots 2011 feels totally reduced on the nose more than any other wine in the 2011 tasting. The palate is chewy and disjointed with an over-extracted finish that feels labored compared to its peers. Vexing after the stellar 2012 from barrel - I will endeavor to re-evaluate this wine.

Bright crimson. Very intense and almost painful acidity but precise and well meant. Fresh finish. Very clean. Max medium weight. (JR)
A cool, pure and restrained nose offers up hints of menthol, spice, earth and underbrush on the ripe red and blue pinot fruit aromas. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the detailed and pure middle weight flavors that exude a fine minerality on the saline-inflected finish that invites the next sip. Lovely and fashioned in a very drinkable style that will permit early accessibility. Tasted: Jan 15, 2014. Drink: 2018+
