Note di degustazione
Saturated red-ruby. Deep, complex nose melds raspberry, underbrush, roasted herbs, mocha and flowers. Silky and suave on entry, then fresh and firm in the middle, with sweet red berry flavors dominating. This, too, boasts strong material, but today the wine's somewhat tough tannins cut off the fruit on the finish-in contrast to the way the wine behaved from barrel a year earlier. This will need several years of bottle aging.

Bright ruby-red. Superripe, expressive aromas of berries, smoked meat, minerals and bitter chocolate. Sweet, fat and full, with the glyceral texture of the vintage in spades. Vosne-Romanee-like berry and floral flavors. Impressively pulpy, stuffed wine, finishing with sweet, chewy tannins that arrive late, allowing the fruits, flowers and minerals to expand and linger.
A hint of reduction cannot completely hide the spicy and complex black fruit aromas that lead to round and very rich, delicious, sexy and pure flavors and an abundantly sappy, decidedly punchy finish. This is a seriously impressive wine with firm structure, notable power and fine balance. Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan01,2005.
