Note di degustazione
The 1999 Figeac is fully mature on the nose, but attractive, with iron ore and roasted chestnut infusing the loose-knit red fruit. The medium-bodied palate offers grainy tannin and a rather monotone midpalate. I feel that here the Cabernet does not quite reach full ripeness, sauntering toward a rather predictable, slightly rustic finish that is highlighted by the exemplary 2016 tasted alongside. Drink soon. Tasted from an ex- château bottle at the estate.

Tasted at the Château Figeac vertical at the property. I have never really got on with the 1999 Figeac and with 16 years now on the clock, it is vindicating my initial tepid reaction to this wine. Served against the 2000 and 2001, it is clear that the nose is disjointed, a bit "scruffy." This of a young urchin without his shirt tucked in. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly hard tannin and without the flesh to counterbalance it. It's a "pass" from me, I'm afraid. Go for the 1998 or the 2001. Tasted June 2015.
50% Merlot –very unusual for Figeac. Mid ruby. Lightly resolved nose. Slightly charred edge but very very juicy and succulent. Great balance. First wine of this tasting that’s actually ready! Juicy! (JR)
Mid-crimson. Quite sharply defined, almost aggressive nose. Then lovely ripe fruit spread all over the palate, without being tricksified. Just solid grapes (versus cellar technique). Amazing length. (JR)
