Note di degustazione
Still healthy ruby hued with just slight bricking, the 1985 Château Gloria has classic Bordeaux notes of black fruits, cedar pencils, and leafy herbs in a medium-bodied, balanced, textured, fully mature style. It plays in a more foursquare, herbal, cedary style yet has lots of character, and I certainly enjoyed drinking this bottle, which held up nicely to air. It's not going to get better yet clearly has another decade of longevity, assuming good provenance. Drink 2026-2035.

The 1985 displays fine depth and richness. Deep in color, with a weedy, herbaceous, cedary, black currant bouquet, it offers up a rich mouthful of succulent claret. Drink it over the next decade. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 10/90.

The modest Ch. Gloria was only created in the 1940s, when Henri Martin – a cooper – purchased some vines. With parcels dotted in amongst the region’s Classed Growths, it produces impressive wines. Today it's managed by Vanessa and Jean Triaud (Henri Martin’s granddaughter and grandson-in-law).
