A medium dark ruby color is followed by aromas of sweet currants and new oak in this moderately intense, soft, low acid, charming St.-Estephe. The wine possesses sweet tannin and an up-front personality that will provide plenty of pleasure over the next decade.

Good deep ruby-red. Aromas of cassis, blueberry, violet, mint, licorice and tobacco leaf. Rounder than the '98 but not as sweet. Moderately ripe flavors of kirsch and blueberry. Finishes with slightly tough tannins that do not appear to be entirely supported by middle-palate material.
