This wine was bottled without filtration. The 1998 Crianza reveals an impressive dense ruby/purple color as well as a sweet, earthy, blackberry, and charcoal-scented nose with new oak in the background. Medium to full-bodied, chewy, with low acidity, and abundant fruit, glycerin, and extract, it will drink well for 5-7 years. Deep ruby-red. Spicy, tangy aromas of black raspberry and currant. Tightly wrapped in the mouth, with clean, penetrating flavors of dark berries, violet, spice and minerals. Modest flavors and very good cut. Clean and penetrating. With a firm spine of acidity and modest flesh, this is dominated today by its structure. Firmly tannic on the finish. I also tasted some intensely flavored but rather raw cabernet sauvignon that may not be included in the blend.
