Note di degustazione
The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Bel Air is another deep, pungent wine endowed with notable depth, power and richness. The aromatics aren't fully expressive, suggesting the wine needs a racking, but there is plenty of substance in the glass. Tar, smoke, licorice and floral notes meld together on the airy finish. The tannins are a bit rustic today. It will be interesting to see how the wine develops from here. Today, I prefer the Evocelles.

There is enough reduction to warrant decanting this in advance if you're going to try a bottle young. There is an attractive texture to the mineral-driven, intense and delicious middle weight flavors that possess finer tannins than those of the Vosne but not necessarily more complex, all wrapped in a lingering finish. This is solid if not truly special. Tasted: Jan 15, 2014. Drink: 2018+
