A big, backward, full-bodied Pomerol, the 2000 Gazin appears to have added weight as well as structure. Still young, it exhibits beautiful notes of sandy, loamy soil intermixed with mulberries, black cherries, cedar, and licorice. Tightly wound, powerful, and rich, with noticeable oak, it needs another 3-5 years of bottle age, and should drink well for two decades.
Mid ruby with some evolution. Neat fresh nose with everything in balance. Sweet and floral and gentle – fully evolved and with the tannins almost imperceptible. This would be quite a good time to drink this gamey wine. (JR)
Slightly dull crimson. Some brûlée notes on the nose, and then great delicacy and richness on the palate. Bravo! More aggressive than some, but overall a successful package for the long term. (JR)
