The 2019 Barbaresco Maria Di Brun has a musky bouquet of baked cherries, baking spices, cedar, and balsamic herbs. It’s a grippy little wine, with ripe, building tannins and a drying feel. Persistent, but a touch clunky, it has an autumnal feel with some more developing notes. It is classic Barbaresco and good for drinking over the next several years.

Just 2,200 bottles made of this sweet, earthy Barbaresco, with a waft of balsam then concentrated, intense red and black berry flavours wrapped up in grape and wood tannins. The high acidity lends balance but it still needs time for the fruit to emerge fully. Long, fresh finish.
The 2019 Barbaresco Maria di Brun is a potent, strapping wine. There's plenty of fruit impact and overall intensity, but the tannins are also pretty intense. I am not sure they will ever soften entirely. Dark red cherry, cinnamon, pomegranate, new leather and sweet oak are front and center. It will be interesting to see if time softens some of the edges, although I am not sure that will happen.
